We have a fantastic opportunity for a Communications Manager to join an award winning architecture and design studio.

Their interdisciplinary practice comprises 80+ architects, designers and researchers with a shared passion for materials, form, technology and craft, working together to test and develop new approaches to design, across all scales and typologies, urban and rural.

With a range of architectural, interior and furniture projects coming to completion, they have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and well-connected communications manager to promote the projects whilst helping articulate and share the studio values with a wider audience.


About you:

The successful candidate will be experienced in a similar role (at least five years’ post-university), have excellent written communication skills and a talent for expressing architectural and design concepts in the written word. It is highly desirable that the communications manager should also have a great eye and be adept at design storytelling in visual form.



The communications manager will be responsible for expanding relationships with key journals and writers, managing press campaigns and press releases, website content, collating and editing thought leadership and research pieces, award entries and generally promoting awareness of the studio and the projects. The communications manager also feeds into the bidding and pitching process, however, this is not a new business role.



The communications manager will report to the studio director in charge of communications and the founding director. The role will also work closely with the director team, the business development team, the senior management team and project leaders.


Required skills and experience:

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Attention to detail and a sense of curiosity
  • Globally aware and well read with an understanding of current and future influences on architecture and design
  • A working knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop is essential. Graphic design / layout skills in addition to written communication skills is a highly desirable added extra
  • Experienced with social media channels, website content management and associated analytics
  • This role would suit someone with proven experience in a similar role within the architectural industry, or someone coming from architectural PR or journalism.

The Role Requirements:

The role:

To manage practice finance and assist with the overall smooth running of the office, assisting the Managing Director in these matters.  Manage the finance team, their workload and output.  Produce timely, accurate and relevant financial reports.  Maintain the project costing programme and ensure that information is accurate and up to date.

This role would suit someone who is familiar with Architecture and Construction Industry.

Overall responsibilities:

Report directly to the board on all matters of practice and project finance.

Accounts and financial management:
  • Monthly and quarterly reporting and accounting as per regulatory legal requirements including taxation, dividends, annual report and accounts
  • Maintaining relationship with company accountant
  • Advise on changes in company legislation, tax, pensions etc
Management accounts
  • Business and financial strategy and planning, regular monitoring, management and reporting including development of policies, systems and personnel involved.
  • Understanding of use and implementation of Union Square management software
  • Cash, billings, earnings and credit control

Further areas of Responsibilities include, Payroll, Banking, Insurances,Shareholders, Company Pension, Business Planning and Property Finance.
